Here it is Wednesday once again. I am beginning to think there are two in each week. It is almost Easter and I dont think it should even be Valentines Day yet.
Since it is close to Easter that means it is almost time for our guest teacher in Monday class. Lynette will be teaching Owl Eyes. Everyone should have their brushes and patterns will be at class. This will be a good experience for everyone.
Since we are not sure Lynette will take two or three weeks we are kind of adjusting the rest of the schedule for the year. I am also working on the summer schedule and getting the seminars all set with dates and projects. I will have that information in the next couple of weeks.
Meantime . . . keep painting and taking classes where you can. It is always good to take from more than one person.

A Slight Change
There has been a slight change in the April schedule . . . Lynette is still teaching her owl eyes but the date has changed. She will be teaching on April 9 and 16. She does have a waiting list for a second class so if anyone missed out please let us know.
I have been busy scheduling seminars for the summer. I have picked some dates and will shortly have some photos. I will post all in a couple of weeks. Meantime, we will be working on a couple of ornaments and the Cat, Moon and Pumpkin! Seems strange for Halloween in March but oh well...that is the way we work! Happy Painting to All...and keep those paintbrushes moving.

Not very good . . .
I have not been very good about posting. I keep saying I am going to do better but I havent yet! I really am going to try and keep this up and post on Wednesdays! I always have plenty to say . . . just no time to say it.
WCDA did a fabulous project today. We had a guest teacher by the name of Renee Herring and she showed us how to do alcohol inks. It was just so much fun and out of our box. At least it was out for most of us. It was just a fun and relaxing class!
Projects in classes are moving right along. My Monday afternoon class is going to have a guest teacher in April. Lynette Swanson will be teaching "Owl Eyes". She already has a waiting list for class #2. The dates for Lynette will be April 9th and 16th. This is pushed back a week as Lynette will be out of town. I hope you all enjoy this class.
And speaking of classes I am having an "open" class called Catch Up. It is to help finish any of those projects that never got finished or a project you might need a little help with. Contact me at Paintwitchy@gmail.com for more information.
Keep painting and doing strokework until Wednesday when I will talk with you again!

Let's get serious!
Minoan Octopus painted for my cousin. It is 36" x36". She loved it.
Project # 1 for Monday classes at Artist's haven
When I look back I cant believe how long it has been since I posted! I am going to try and do better and post on Wednesdays from now on. There is a lot happening in the painting world these days! Monday Intermediate class begins tomorrow, Monday, Jan 30, 2012. The Beginner and Beginner/Advance classes have already begun.
I have several things in the works for Monday class. One of them is a guest teacher and that should be exciting. I have also planned for some "different" things. We are going to try and get out of our box again. We did pretty well last year and are still moving in that direction. We will start out slow and move on from there. A few of the first things are the Cat, Moon and Pumpkin we did not get to last year, a dry brush tray, painting on heavy canvas, a winter scene and a fruit plate! Hope to see you all at painting!

You mean it's already past Wed??
Where oh where does the time go? I cant believe I used to have a job and still did all the stuff I do now!
I am busy getting classes together for after the first of the year. I have had some requests for Landscapes. One of my students brought in several she would like to do so I am going to be looking for surfaces for those.
But for the time being I am getting ready for Christmas. Michele and I are having our Christmas Lunch for our combined classes. We need an ornament to exchange for that (and a lunch plan). I also need ornaments for Bunco and the Chapter meeting. I also need a gift for our Thursday painting group. Lots of painting to get finished!
Tip of the week . . . preparing a good surface is the beginning of a good painting. If you do sloppy work tracing and basecoating you will not have nice lines. Take the time to do it correctly.
Keep painting . . . .

It's been awhile!
Hello All . . . I am going to try and be better about posting something new. I have decided I will have a "feature" each week and will try and post on Wednesdays. That seems to be my least busy day.
A couple of items . . . after the beginning of 2012 - yes 2012 already - I am going to hold a class once a month. The class cost will be $5.00 and will be for 2 1/2 hours. We will vary the times so everyone can get a chance to come. We will be doing a daytime, an evening and possibly a Saturday.
The class will be called "Catchup and Mustard up the Energy to Finish! We will just call it Catchup for short. I will do a short 20-30 minutes demonstration or talk or how to do things....such as crackle, reduce and enlarge patterns, the importance of basecoats, etc. You can bring things to finish or just get help on something you want to paint or just paint. More information will follow as the beginning of the year gets closer.
The "feature" for this week will be a painting tip . . .
When starting a new project, trace around your surface onto tracing paper. Then use that tracing to actually trace your pattern. It will fit the surface and you can also center it much better so it fits nicely.
Until next week . . . keep those minds busy and those paintbrushes moving!

October - the middle already! Are you kidding?
I cant believe it is already the middle of October. Classes are progressing. We are working on a couple of different projects. Both are "altered art". I think everyone is enjoying them. It is a different thing to do. We will be starting a Halloween project - the Moon, Cat and Pumpkin, on the 31st. After that we will be starting in on our Christmas projects. After all it is only 10 weeks until Christmas. I dont know about everyone else but I always say I am going to get busy right after Christmas . . but do I??? NO! Here is it and I am once again beginning to scramble. So...everyone keep those brushes moving. I know several of you need more than one hand painted ornament for exchanges!
